The insurance can be taken out by any natural person over 18 years of age with NIF or NIE and with a Spanish driving license or authorized by the EU and legal persons with CIF as Policyholder and/or Owner.

You will only need your driving license, the details of your current insurance policy and some details about the vehicle, which you will find in the vehicle documentation, such as the registration number and date or engine size.

Regardless of their age, you can insure these vehicles for private use: cars (including electric and hybrid vehicles), micro cars, SUVs, MPVs and pick-ups; as well as vans, campers, trailers up to 750 kg with the same registration and motorhomes up to 3,500 kg gross vehicle weight (GVW).

The excess is the amount of money you have to pay out of pocket in the event of a claim before the insurer covers the rest of the cost. This only applies to accidents involving personal damage, i.e. where the person responsible is the insured person. For example, if you have an excess of €300 and you suffer an accident with damages valued at €1,000, you would pay the first €300 and the insurer would cover the remaining €700.

The amount of the excess varies depending on the type of insurance, the value of your vehicle and whether you decide to have it repaired at a BBVA Allianz garage or one of your choice.

You can ask for your insurance policy not to be renewed whenever you like, provided you do so at least one month before the annual renewal of your contract. This will prevent the policy from being renewed on the renewal date. Just send your decision in writing, together with a photocopy of your ID card (or equivalent document), by email or post.
