What are the main risks?

It is important that you read and understand the risks and costs inherent in investing in crypto-assets, including the following:

  • Investing in crypto-assets is highly speculative and extremely volatile. It can lead to a total loss of the amount invested and, therefore, may not be suitable for everyone.
  • Distributed ledger technologies are still in the early stages of development and may be vulnerable to attempts to alter the ledger.
  • Investments in crypto-assets are not covered by customer protection mechanisms such as the Deposit Guarantee Fund or the Investment Guarantee Fund.

What should you know before investing?

This is how the MiCA Regulation protects you

The MiCA Regulation governs cryptoassets and their related services within the European Union.

- Cryptoassets regulated by MiCA are E-Money Tokens (EMTs), Asset-Referenced Tokens (ARTs) and other cryptoassets such as Bitcoin and Ether that grant access to services or products.
- The CNMV recommends verifying that the cryptoasset service provider is duly authorized under MiCA to operate within the European Union to avoid the risk of fraud, loss of funds and lack of recourse.

Reduces risks

Before investing in cryptoassets, it is important to take into account a series of key aspects:

- Check if the company is authorized in the European Union and take the time to investigate.
- Make sure the devices you use to buy, transfer, or store cryptoassets are secure.
- Keep in mind that the value of cryptoassets can be highly volatile and lead to losses.
