Combined deposits: a savings and investment product which combines a fixed-term deposit with an investment fund. This allows you to secure a minimum return while also having the potential to earn a higher return than a traditional fixed deposit. This is possible because part of your money is invested in the investment fund.

How do I get it and who is it intended for?

BBVA's fixed-term savings accounts are open online quickly and securely, for BBVA customers only. They are designed for anybody who wants better returns on savings in a stable and safe manner.

Will I receive interest if I cancel my deposit before the term?

Early cancellation of a deposit, whether it is fixed-term or combined, typically incurs a penalty. According to the Bank of Spain, this penalty cannot exceed the total gross interest earned from the beginning of the deposit up to the cancellation date. Additionally, any interest generated will be lost; however, the initial investment remains unaffected, as it is guaranteed.

Can I know the yield on my fixed-term savings in advance?

Invest your money with peace of mind, knowing beforehand the returns offered by the deposit and what you'll get at the end of the term. For the Combined Fixed-Term Account, the known yield is that which corresponds to the deposit, since returns on the fund with which it is combined are subject to investment variables. The money invested in deposits is protected by both BBVA and the Deposit Guarantee Fund (DGF).

What happens when the term of my bank deposits expires?

When a fixed-term or combined deposit expires, the bank must return the invested amount along with the generated interest, after deducting the applicable tax withholding.

How are bank deposits taxed?

Although the initial investment in a fixed-term deposit or combined deposit is not included in the income tax return, the interest earned from it is subject to taxation as income from capital. The following rates of withholding tax apply to this interest: 19%, If it is equal to or less than €6,000. 21%, if it is between €6,001 and €50,000. 23%, if it is between €50,001 and €200,000. 27%, if it is between €200,001 and €300,000. 28%, if it is higher than €300,000.
