IMF (International Monetary Fund)

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is an inter-governmental entity founded in 1945 to promote international monetary cooperation, facilitate the expansion and balanced growth of international trade, promote exchange rate stability, and to help to establish a multilateral payment system.

Currently the IMF reviews for the economic policies of its 188 member countries and provides advisement on these. To do this, it recommends policies that it thinks will improve economic stability, decrease vulnerability to economic and financial crises, and improve the living standards of the population.
