BBVA Pet Insurance for dogs and cats

• The policyholder must have an NIF or NIE, reside in Spain and be over 18 years old.
• The dog or cat must be your pet, regardless of its breed. Any animals that serve other purposes, such as hunting and/or security, cannot be insured by this policy.
• It must be identified with a microchip and be up-to-date on vaccinations.
• It must be in perfect health with no physical injury or disability: It cannot have or have suffered from any illness in the last year and cannot have undergone any surgical intervention during its lifetime, except for sterilization.
• Once contracted, there is no age limit for when the product can be withdrawn; so you can enjoy pet insurance for your animal's entire lifespan.
  

Yes, you can choose any veterinary center within Spain, although the payment method will depend on the type of clinic:

• At collaborating centers: No payments for consultation or treatment. With Essential coverage, 100% of expenses will be covered up to €1,000 per claim, and with Complete coverage, 100% of expenses will be covered up to the insured sum limit.
• At non-collaborating centers: You will need to pay for the consultation or treatment, and the amount will be refunded at a later date. With Essential coverage, 100% of expenses will be reimbursed up to €1,000 per claim, and with Complete coverage, 80% of expenses will be reimbursed up to the insured sum limit.

• Basic Policy: Surgical procedures are covered, provided they are the result of an accident.
• Comprehensive Policy: Surgical procedures resulting from the animal having suffered an accident or illness are covered.

With BBVA Pet Insurance, it can be added as an optional extra; depending on the pet you have, it may be compulsory or not:

• Dogs: The Animal Welfare Act requires that all dogs have valid Civil Liability insurance. However, many home insurance policies already include this coverage. We give you the freedom to choose: If you already have it, don't pay for it twice; If you need it, you can include it in your insurance without a hitch.

• Cats: There is no current legal obligation to take out a policy with Civil Liability for cats, so you can focus your insurance exclusively on their health care.

With both Essential and Complete coverage, you have the option to purchase Civil Liability coverage, which will cover your pet abroad when the duration of the trip is not longer than three consecutive months.

• The Civil Liability coverage applies from the first day; as well as legal defense, online advisory services and video consultations.
• To be put down due to old age or illness, at least 1 year must have passed since the policy was taken out.
• The remaining coverage within BBVA Pet Insurance policies will begin to apply 15 days after the date it was taken out.
