We will pay your bills

The overdraft service is an advantage for being a BBVA customer by which any direct debit bill you have in your BBVA account (up to €300) is paid even if your current balance is insufficient.

To meet the requirements, which will be detailed later, it is necessary to have the overdraft service activated. As a result, the bills processed in this manner will incur the fees and interest associated with the overdraft service.

Example: You have a balance of €50 in your account. The gas bill arrives for a total amount of €340. Instead of returning the bill due to insufficient balance, BBVA accepts the charge and notifies you to deposit money into your account. Your account will have a negative balance of -€290 (the difference between the balance you had and the amount of your bill) until you make a new deposit in your account. Even if the total amount of the bill is €340, this bill will be paid as it does not exceed the maximum authorized negative balance, if you make a deposit during the current day to return to positive balance this service is free of charge. In the event that during the day you fail to return to a positive balance, the same fees and interest already established for the tacit overdraft service of your account agreement will be applied.

How does it work?

  • The overdraft service is activated by default in all your BBVA accounts that have the overdraft service active.
  • It works in any BBVA account where a bill can be paid by direct debit.
  • Whenever you receive a new direct debit, we check to see if you have the balance available to pay it. Whatever the issuer and type of receipt it may be.
  • In the event that the amount of your bill is greater than the balance in your account, BBVA will pay the bill. That is, it does not return the bill and allows you to pay it so as not to generate a problem with the issuer.
  • You are instantly notified that the bill has been taken care of and that you need to deposit money because your account has a negative balance.
  • BBVA takes care of your bills as long as they do not generate a maximum negative balance of €300. That is, as long as the difference between the available balance and the bill does not generate a negative account balance of more than €300.
  • This service is framed within the tacit overdraft service and, in case of use, the fees and interest established therein will be applied.

Who is it available for?

The service you use is available to all BBVA customers who have:
