How does the EIB loan work?

  • We help you finance investment projects that aim to strengthen the productivity and competitiveness of companies through the European Investment Bank (EIB) Lines, offering you preferential conditions in both the interest rate and fees for SMEs and freelancers.

Characteristics of the EIB loan

  • Line for freelancers and SMEs

    Those who can benefit are as follows:

    • Self-employed individuals, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with fewer than 250 employees. 
    • SMEs and companies (Midcaps), with up to 3,000 workers.

    Territorial scope

    • Both the Final Payees and the investment Projects must be located in any European Union member state.

    Validity

    • Until the available funds are exhausted.

Eligible investment projects

  • Finance investments and expenses that belong to an eligible investment project, including:

    • Acquisition, renewal or extension of tangible assets that are not land.
    • Intangible assets: development, planning and financing costs during the construction phase of the material asset, R&D costs, process licenses, software, patents, marks...
    • The needs of medium and long-term working capital linked to the productive cycle of the company. As well as for financing needs arising as a result of the economic crisis caused by COVID-19.

Terms and conditions of the EIB loan

  • Maximum amount

    • Investment projects up to €25 million. Up to 100% of the investment with a maximum amount of €12.5 million.

    Financing modality 

    Transactions can be formalized in either the loan or leasing modality. 

    Transaction period 

    The transaction period is flexible, though it cannot exceed the economic and technical duration of the financed Project.

    Interest rate and fees 

    You will have preferential financing conditions, both in terms of the interest rate and the fees.

    BBVA financing through BEI Lines. The granting of transactions is subject to compliance with the requirements established in each of the EIB Lines and prior financing authorization on behalf of BBVA
